Say Cheese!
Hi friends! To make it easier to get the word out and keep everyone current about Art Adventures,we are sending home a yellow form with your child giving us permission to take photos and/or videos of them in class. Basically, this makes it a much easier job of showing what is happening in art and not omitting the most important element…the kids! Please fill out and return your form as soon as possible, and be on the lookout for new pictures. Videos may be short instruction or just for fun! We don’t use any names with the pictures, just smiling faces and good times!
Thank you as always for your support of Art Adventures.

Hooray! Twenty -ten is here and it is a chance for new beginnings…We have made some changes to our creative art space…our space formally known as the Shop or the Store, is now extended classroom space. It is truly awesome! We hope you like it!
We’ve changed a few things around the main classroom space and the clay room…see if you notice. Hmmm, we know you will and be sure to share with us how you like it.
Ms. Amy has carved out a niche for herself at Art Adventures, making a studio in the back by the photography darkroom. She is enjoying her new art space and making some cool artwork. Ms. Jill is working on a small studio space where she can create as well.
Looking at an artist studio space gives a glimpse into the heart and soul of the artist. My studio is the place that brings me happiness and nurturing as I create my silk paintings. A studio space can be a corner of your bedroom, a garage, the dining room table….anywhere where you are comfortable to create. We are so proud to have you at Art Adventures learning to become artists and encourage you to create a special space at home for art.

It’s always fun to see how others decorate their homes and this tour will certainly showcase some of Richmond’s historic architecture as well. It will be an excellent time to catch a glimpse of unique artwork in the intimate setting of several Fan District homes. Here are the details:
The 47th Annual Fan Holiday House Tour, “Holiday Splendor on the Avenue”, will take place Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December, 13th from 1PM-5PM each day. While every holiday house tour is special, the 2009 tour will be a truly unique experience because all of the homes on the tour will be on historic Monument Avenue. The source of pride for many of us, Monument Avenue has been named by the American Planning Association as one of the 10 Great Streets in the United States. The Avenue is also on the National Register of Historic Places. We are expecting a record turnout this year to take advantage of this rare opportunity to experience firsthand the beauty and grandeur of the homes on Monument Avenue.
Fan Holiday House Tour
The homeowners on this year’s tour have graciously agreed to open their homes to the community as a show of support for the Fan District Association (FDA). The FDA is one of the largest and most active volunteer organizations in the City of Richmond, and the tour is the FDA’s only fund-raising event of the year. Participation in the Tour by homeowners and volunteers is what enables the FDA to carry out its mission- keeping the Fan District a desireable place to live for all. Proceeds from the Tour are used for neighborhood enhancements such as school projects, tree planting, park and alley refurbishments, concerts, and collaboration with the City of Richmond Police and VCU in a Party Patrol program. The tour also provides financial support for the FDA’s community newsletter, Fan Fare, as well as the community website.
